Term time catering assistant required for city centre location in Newcastle

We are recruiting on behalf of a busy hospitality venue which is part of a world class educational site. What will does the role as Term Time Catering Assistant entail?

  • You will be working as part of a dedicated team to prepare and produce all food to on site standards and specifications.
  • You will be working alongside the chef on the pass during service in a busy restaurant serving items from the menu such as wraps, paninis, pizzas and salads.
  • You will adopt the ‘clean as you go’ policy of the kitchen, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness for the staff and customers. You will wash pots and clean down areas, removing waste as necessary.
  • You must take responsibility for managing stock effectively, keeping waste to a minimum and rotating stock on a daily basis.
  • You will be expected to adhere to all health and safety regulations, acting responsibly and with due care and attention at all times.
  • You will keep all health and safety records up to date as required.
  • You will attend staff meetings and give feedback.

Adkins & Cheurfi are looking for relief a sous chef. We want good and reliable sous chefs who can work with little or no supervision.

We want chefs who are happy to work on their own or as part of a brigade in ongoing contracts throughout the North East.

Our clients are busy hotels and restaurants so we do require a minimum of 3 years experience working in hotels, restaurant or busy fresh food pubs.

We offer full and part-time hours paid at an hourly rate.

We offer flexibility, weekly pay, staff incentives, staff uniform and pay reviews on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a relief chef within hotels and restaurants. Fine dining/rosette preferred but not essential.

The Hotel is a Georgian masterpiece built in 1818, it’s been lovingly restored over the years, including a wealth of beautiful wood panelling and a grand handmade staircase. Old stone fireplaces, classic leather armchairs, elegant sitting rooms, grandfather clocks with the sense of a grand but homely residence.

Managing a large brigade of 10 chefs the ideal candidate will have previous experience at Executive Head Chef level at 2* rosette level. The Executive Head Chef will have full responsibility for the day to day management of the kitchen, including all functions, weddings and the restaurant itself

Our client is offering a competitive salary of up to £40,000 for the right candidate and is looking for a forward-thinking, dynamic and team playing leader who can help grow the business and Hotel.

Due to the rural location, we recommend that your own transport would be essential, as our client currently offers only temporary live-in accommodation. Situated just a few miles from Alnwick, ideally, you will live close by or within Newcastle and surrounding areas.
