Part time chef required for upmarket care kitchen in Gosforth

Our client, a prestigious, market leader in the care sector is seeking a part time chef to work three days per week with optional over time. Based in Gosforth, with parking on site you will be producing bistro quality food for residents and guests 24 hours per week. This is a rare part time vacancy in a central location, working for an established employer with scope for progression within the company and lots of opportunities for training and development. This is a temporary to permanent position.

Duties and responsibilities of part time chef:

  • Producing an appetizing hot and cold selection for breakfast
  • Producing a bistro quality lunch offering with a choice of two options, taking into account soft food requirements, personal preferences and dietary requirements
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen
  • Keeping all health and safety records
  • Ordering and stock stake as required

Skills you will have:

  • You must be in possession of a DBS certificate on the Update Service or willing to undergo a DBS check
  • You will be an experienced chef who has excellent time management skills
  • You will be a perfectionist with a passion for making delicious food
  • You will be a great team player who takes his/her responsibilities within the team seriously
  • You must have an NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery
  • You must be a good communicator with outstanding people skills

Responsibility – Key Duties
  • You will be tasked to build and run your own profitable desk.
  • You will build and maintain strong and honest relationships with candidates and clients.
  • Generate new business/vacancies from clients via sales and business development.
  • Screen candidates, interview, and match candidates to clients.
  • Provide consultancy advice to both clients and candidates on salary levels and career opportunities.
  • Cold calling businesses and speak to decision-makers.
  • Resource databases and social media for suitable candidates.
  • Identify and win new business opportunities
  • Sales and CRM will be paramount as you will be expected to win, gain and retain new business.
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle for client site meetings.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a relief chef within hotels, restaurants or contract catering sites.

Candidate requirements –

  • 100% Reliable
  • Capable of working to a very high standard in a variety of kitchens
  • Senior Chef de Partie level and above.
  • Due to locations, own transport is desirable
  • Experienced in Banqueting & Events
  • Confident to run own section in the kitchen
  • Up to date knowledge of allergens, health, hygiene, and safety practices in the kitchen
  • Ability to cook and prepare food to a high standard using fresh ingredients
  • Hardworking and enthusiastic
  • Must be able to get on well with other chefs
  • Must be able to work under pressure in busy kitchens

Salary: £14 -£18 per hour Self Employed

Salary: £12-£14 per hour PAYE
