Salary: £13.25 – £16 per hour

Adkins and Cheurfi are currently looking for a chef who can work in a nursery. This role is suitable for someone with the right skills and mindset in a kitchen. The position requires Monday to Friday availability, working approximately 37.5 hours per week.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals for children in a nursery setting
  • Create menus that meet dietary requirements and cater to children’s preferences
  • Ensure food is prepared and served in a safe and hygienic manner
  • Maintain inventory of food supplies and place orders as needed
  • Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure mealtime routines are followed
  • Adhere to portion control and food waste reduction guidelines
  • Monitor and record temperatures of food storage areas
  • Follow all health and safety regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Food and hygiene certificate
  • Food safety certificate
  • NVQ Level 3 in catering or equivalent

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a nursery or childcare setting
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements for children
  • Ability to plan and prepare balanced meals within budget constraints
  • Strong culinary skills and a passion for cooking
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid certification
  • Experience working with children

Working Conditions:

The nursery chef will primarily work in the kitchen of a nursery, ensuring that meals are prepared and served according to established guidelines. The work environment may involve exposure to heat, sharp objects, and cleaning chemicals. The chef may need to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects such as pots and pans. The role requires adherence to strict hygiene and safety protocols.
