About the Company:

Adkins and Cheurfi Recruitment are currently seeking relief chefs in the Northumberland area for school bookings. We have multiple schools in need of short-term and long-term cover.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to the provided menu and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure food quality and presentation meet the established standards.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and timely service.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with menu planning and development.

Required Qualifications:

  • NVQ cooking qualification or equivalent.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cooking.
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications or training in culinary arts.
  • Experience in catering for schools or large-scale events.

Working Conditions:

This is a temporary position with full-time hours. The chef will be required to work in school kitchens, following established schedules and menus. The role may involve standing for extended periods, working in a hot and busy environment, and occasional lifting of heavy objects. The chef must adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised workspace.
