Kitchen Assistant, permanent position

We are recruiting on behalf of a private client; a luxury home for the elderly located in leafy Riding Mill, Hexham. They are looking for a keen, proactive and enthusiastic person to join their kitchen team to work 5 days per week, £8.30 per hour. This location prides itself on being a cut above the rest. Their facilities are excellent, their training scheme is superb and the location property itself is beautiful. There is scope for progression in this role which would suit somebody just embarking on a career in catering. A DBS is essential.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Washing all dishes and pots
• Teas, coffees and cakes
• Working alongside the chef to plate up food and ensure smoothness of kitchen service
• Liaising with other departments to meet all staff and residents gastronomic needs
• Keeping the kitchen and equipment clean and tidy
• Using resident feedback to improve your skills
• Basic food prep

Skills and qualifications:

• The most important attribute that you can bring to this role is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
• Strong work ethic is essential
• A keen eye for detail
• Good communication skills
• COSHH trained
• Food Safety Level 2
• DBS certificate essential
• Some previous experience in a catering role would be preferred
